Our HVACR courses help
you get ahead

You don’t need to become a licensed HVAC tech to have a successful HVAC career. But becoming licensed creates more opportunities. You can earn more, supervise others, or start your own plumbing business, depending on which license you get.

North Carolina offers multiple licensing options. Most licenses take years to earn, but training at the School of Skilled Trades gives you a head start on the process.

  • Each license option requires you to spend a certain number of hours working in the HVAC field and then pass an exam.
  • Time you spend in educational training counts towards the experience requirements, up to certain limits.
  • You can count all of the hours you spend training at the School of Skilled Trades towards the requirements of any of the HVAC license options.
  • Plus, you’ll learn about the key topics the licensing exam covers. You’ll be ready to take the exam sooner than you thought, and you’ll be preparing to pass it.

For the latest information on licensing options and qualifications, please visit the State Board of Examiners website.
